Our Story
Retirement, Reinvented
RiverWoods started as a dream in the early 1980s, around the kitchen tables of Maryanna Hatch and Rosemary Coffin. They gathered a grassroots group of Seacoast residents who were interested in fostering a new way to live while growing older. Their goal was to develop an active community of interested adults who cared about each other and the world around them. Ten years after that first conversation, the small group realized their dream in 1994 as RiverWoods’ first campus opened with the credo: to be a leader in providing a superior option for a growing number of seniors seeking community and peace of mind.
