Welcome Mark to the RiverWoods Durham Team

My name is Mark Lane and I am the Marketing Intern at RiverWoods Durham this summer. I am from Brentwood; New Hampshire and I will be starting my Junior year studying Economics at the University of Vermont this fall.

The first week of my Internship was very hectic. I started on Tuesday, June 11, two days before the Personalization Unveiling presentation. Throughout my first two days, I tried to get as familiar as possible with the RiverWoods community while helping set up for the events. The team of Natalee, Therese, and Diane were very helpful in teaching me what I needed to know.

When Thursday came I was a little nervous. We had our two Personalization Unveiling events at the Oaks Country Club in one day. I didn’t know what to expect because I had never seen any RiverWoods events and I had not met any of the future residents yet. The event was so popular, I knew I would have the opportunity to meet most of the Charter Members. The morning event went very well, and I learned a lot while watching Cathleen, the architects, and the interior designers give their presentations. In between the events, I got to meet and have lunch with the event speakers. They were all excited to hear my ideas and made me feel very welcomed.

In the days following the event I had to dive head first into learning how to answer the phones. We got a lot of calls from depositors reflecting on their opinions of the standard options for the apartments. It was my first taste of how difficult it is to keep everybody happy while personalizing 150 different apartments.

Over the next month and a half, I look forward to learning all I can from my time at RiverWoods Durham. Some of the things that I want to learn include: what goes into planning a marketing event, how to build relationships with potential depositors, and how to overcome the challenges that arise when trying to personalize 150 different apartments. This is my first time working in an office setting
